BACKGROUND:

Experienced feature and news writer, columnist, editor and photographer for magazines, newspapers and web sites. Currently focused on humor columns and essays; magazine-length features for regional and national magazines; and book projects.

Particular areas of interest include media technology and culture; travel and leisure; personal profiles; personal essays and travelogues; telecommunications; law and politics; business and economy; trend spotting and futurist speculation.

Relatively recent clips include 10,000-word cover story, with photos, for Northeast, the Sunday magazine of the Hartford (CT) Courant, circulation 300,000, on medical/health tourism. Other writing samples are linked from www.tftb.com.

The article led, serendipitously, to a book contract. Beauty from Afar was published on July 1, 2006 by Stewart, Tabori & Chang of New York.

I'm available for assignment anywhere in the world, but based in Connecticut . I've been a consultant to medical tourism companies on five continents.

WORK:

In 2007, I worked for several overseas companies as a consultant and also as Vice President, Creative Services for CPR Communications, a public relations and strategic marketing company based in New Jersey. Prior work includes but is not limited to:

·         Technical Director, Executive Editor -- SBC/SNET Internet Services, 1998 -- 2003.

·         Marketing and Projects Director -- North American Internet, CyberZone and JavaNet (Internet startups) 1994--1998.

·         Editor, Writer, Reporter, Photographer – The Evening Sentinel, The Record-Journal, The News-Times (daily newspapers in Connecticut) 1983--1994.

OTHER EXPERIENCE:

·         Professional-level skills in computer hardware, software and networking across all operating systems and platforms.

·         Extensive experience as a public speaker and lecturer.

·         Works well in groups and comfortable with leadership roles.

EDUCATION:

Yale University … Though I’ve learned more from my mistakes.
