I’m an author, journalist, computer/networking/web management professional with top-level technical abilities in hardware and software. If you’re looking for someone who is inspired, driven, connected and highly skilled to manage, edit or write content – whether you’re an established brand or ambitious start-up – I’m your guy.

EXPERIENCE:

In the last seven years:

  • I wrote and have promoted the first book published in the United States on the subject of medical travel. Beauty from Afar: A Medical Tourist's Guide to Affordable and Quality Cosmetic Care Outside the U.S. was a moderate publishing success. It established me as an expert on the subject and I have worked as a business consultant, writer, public relations expert and event speaker for various medical travel and health care entities from 2006 to the present. I currently write a respected Costa Rica dental tourism blog and am putting Beauty from Afar online as a resource for consumers. Google ™ me if you’d like to see videos, writing samples, etc.
  • I’ve conducted extensive research into the online dating world – a $1 billion-plus industry – prefatory to writing my second book, about how the growth of online dating and social network has changed American and sexual culture. My agent and I are currently seeking a publisher. As part of building a context for this work, I’ve written for large sites devoted to pop culture and relationships; interviewed dating and adult dating industry CEOs and other experts; and blogged extensively. I’m working as senior and contributing editor for a large website devoted to news and features about sex and sexual culture.

Prior to 2003:

  • From 1998 to 2003, I was a technical director and content lead for various entities that are now, collectively, called AT&T.  I led teams that designed, built and managed regional, national and international customer support sites. Some of the sites and much of the content continue in use through today.
  • From 1995 to 1998, I worked as a marketing director for three separate start-up Internet Service Providers (ISPs), helping each grow to the point where they were worth enough to be bought out by larger players in that industry. I was also the somewhat prescient online culture and technology reporter and columnist for NewMassMedia, an alternative newspaper chain.
  • From 1984 to 1995, I was a reporter, editor and columnist for daily newspapers in Connecticut.

EDUCATION

I attended Lehigh and Yale Universities, 1974-1980, majoring in engineering and economics … with time off to work in Africa.
